Reducing Emissions
The science is clear: To curb the damaging effects of climate change we must cut the amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that we release into the atmosphere—and fast. MCEA works to reduce the impact of major global warming polluters in a variety of ways. We’re fighting the construction of new coal-fired power plants, lobbying for clean cars legislation, advocating expanded transit, and pushing a variety of initiatives to reduce driving. While cutting emissions from these sources is critical, it’s equally important to recognize that cars and power plants alone aren’t responsible for global warming. MCEA’s work on issues like superwarmers, cap and trade, and a statewide climate registry tackles a broad spectrum of problematic polluters in order to maximize the impact of emissions reductions strategies.
