Daniel Engstrom is retired director of the St. Croix Watershed Research Station of the Science Museum of Minnesota. He is an internationally recognized expert on atmospheric mercury pollution and lead scientist for policy-critical studies of the effects of sulfide-metal mining on wild rice and mercury contamination in northern Minnesota, the impacts of agriculture on Minnesota’s lakes and rivers, and the role of climate change in altering our pristine northern lakes.
