Rebecca Otto

Rebecca Otto is an accomplished executive in both the public and private sectors. She found her way to Minnesota as a teen on a trip to the BWCA, and the BWCA is why she chose Minnesota as her home. She received a B.A. in Biology from Macalester College. Otto cofounded a contracting company in the mid 1980s with her husband, which they built up to 50 employees and later sold. She wanted to give back to the community and obtained a Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota and taught 7th grade Life Science in the Mounds View Schools in the 1990’s. 

​Otto later chaired a successful levy referendum campaign and ran and served on the Forest Lake School Board. She then served in the Legislature as a State Representative and served on both the Agriculture and Environmental Policy Committees. Most recently, Rebecca served for 12 year as the Minnesota State Auditor, overseeing over $20 billion spent per year by local governments and serving on six state boards. As a member of the State Executive Council, she was the only Constitutional Officer to vote against nonferrous mineral leases and led the conversation on the importance of strong financial assurances to protect our state and our natural resources. Otto lives in a renewable energy home she and her husband built with their own hands 25 years ago and they both drive EV cars.
